Good question. Blocking the entire air inlet area may be risky on hot days. Keep a very close eye on the temperature gauge.

Could you make at least one opening "operable" with a choke cable from the driver's seat? Close it up on cool days or at high speeds, and leave it open for city and hot weather driving. Best of both worlds.
