I should have used my HIDs, maybe.
Right lane discipline is no more what it used to be. Especially on the 3 and 4 lane Autobahn strecke; many simply refuse to use the right lane as there could be a semi or caravan way up ahead. Even if they don't go fast at all themselves.
But to be fair the weather was hot; around 32 degrees Celcius (90 F) so maybe that distracted them. There were several accidents too.
The majority of German drivers don't go faster than 130 km/h even where there is no limit. Around many ramps and all major connections the speed is reduced to 130 or 100, so you'd have to drop back frequently anyway.
I visited some friends who took me along in their car, and the driver went up to about 160 km/h where possible. We seldom got passed, but had to brake a lot, for other cars and for the speed limits.
