I personally would do the Crosstek over the Forester (and either over the Toyotas). Has your mom driven any of them? I think the best way to decide would be letting her decide from the 4 you've narrowed it down to. One thing to consider is how easy it is to get into and out of each car. It may not be any issue now, but something to consider for 5 or 10 years down the road.

My mom is at Lake Tahoe with her mother and sister until next week. Main point right now is to narrow down to give her a handful to drive when she gets back.

My cousin has a Tribute with a blown trans (in Reno/ Tahoe) and isn't interested in having it repaired due to endless issues. It is a 2006 with 90k. So I'm pretty sure that between the age and that it is off the list.

I like the Crosstek best of the remaining list, but my dad likes the forester.

Entry is a minor issue for her, but is VERRY important for her mother that spends the winter at her home near us, is legally blind and relies heavily on my mother for transportation.
