I trickle charge every single night (well, when I get in my garage and don't forget to plug it in... lol). If I miss ~3 days or more, I can hear it in the startup that the battery is a bit lower. I think nighly charge has helped some. I have also converted quite a bit to LED and beefed up some of the electrical wiring. Average trip between charges on the trickle charger is like ~10 miles per day.
Since I'm almost completely city driving, I opted for the less weight of the smaller battery. Plus, they are extremely cheap and make it easier to work around in the engine bay.
