Having all of a week under my belt with a fully broken-in C-max, pre-PCM upgrade, I find it easy to get 50 mpg as long as I stay off the highway. Most of the car's early life was with a "conventional" driver and most of its recent usage on interstates, so lifetime mileage is 38.2, consistent with many reports.
The analysis of the physical system shows the vehicle is larger cross-section, heavier, with more ICE displacement, but with the next generation of batteries and presumably some degree of technology advantage over an older design. In some usage modes, it may have a FE advantage, but it won't happen very often...
I like recumpence's POV....
"So, I am driving the way this car shines best... that is precisely why I bought this car. It has the perfect amount of interior space, is quite powerful, and excels at exactly what I need from it, mainly town to town driving."
And I like the moderator replies to radioranger... it's a better place this way.
HAve fun,
Frank
