Good old car

In April I just bought a 1980 5000s diesel much to the disapproval of my VW mechanic but this car is amazing. My electrical system is really messed up but the beauty is that it is easy to rewire due to the lack of computers. Mine has about 240,000 miles on it, it runs really well and I drive it every day to and from work, a 40 mile round trip Recently my wife and I took a 3 day road trip around the north shore of Minnesota putting on about 650 miles and averaged 44 mpg!
I am finding that parts are a chore to find, these cars just do not exist anymore, I am told that only about a half dozen of these are known to be roaming our great highways. Overall if you are mechanically inclined and want an obscure car to drive that you can fix with simple tools and maybe a machine shop keep it, if not find something newer but concede to the fact that you are bound by computers and specific highway fuel, no bio-diesel, no fryer oil!

I'll post some pics later!
