Jeesus, I had a 1Y deferrment in 1969 due to inguenal hernia (birth defect). Doc at pre induction physical, 3 weeks after my 18th birthday, told me I sould get it fixed before it strangulated. I told him there was no way in hades I was going to pay to have it repaired so they could draft me, ship me to Nam, and get it shot off and sent back in a body bag.

I waited 40 years until it got so bad I could jog and it would feel like my junk was falling out. Got it fixed and 3 years later they had to go back in when sutures started coming out of the same area. $5800 for the redo and I had to pay another co-pay. It was not a good day to be working in the hospital when I went in the second time, a very unhappy camper.

regards
Mech
