The near future, that is... say in two years?
So over a period of
15 years electricity will have doubled in price. Have I ever. So will oil, food, cars, rent; maybe not precisely, but close.
If people on benefits can't pay the energy bills because they have risen quicker than the benefits, what would really be the problem then? Lets make energy cheaper, so those people just cannot pay for something else that also got more expensive?
Der Spiegel does signal a problem, and that's good.
But it does no good to meet their critical approach without any reservations.
