My blood pressure rose continually as I read until I got to:
Quote:
Environmentalists and some analysts, however, caution that jubilant predictions from a country that consumes some 25 percent of the world's oil will run into environmental constraints including global warming and a lack of fresh water.

...and then it went back down again.

Yes, but I'd be amazed if that is what actually ended up happening...

I got all the liberal sailboat guys going yesterday by pointing out all the sails are blocking the natural wind patterns and contributing to the global warming. Probably just as valid as anything else.

Do they have an 'L' painted on their boat?
The sailboat interferes with the water as much as it does the air. But if they sail in circles it will all cancel out. Prolly as valid as anything.

He discusses the implications of the Sun's weakening magnetic field, and how—even though our weather seems to be getting chaotic—if it was the same as Jupiter or Venus, we'd be seeing hurricanes the size of Brazil that last a month. "Laugh while you can, monkey-boy."
FYI, toward the end he veers into the politics. Basically=>it's not your fault, but if they can convince you that it is then you become obligated to do what they want you to do.

My biggest worry and peeve is they spray thousands of gallons of herbicides around here to kill roadside weeds, got to be hurting the water supply. and all the rest . of course the state knows what they are doing , when I ask th eEPA guys they dont know anything about it , not their department to fight the state DOT guys

Dunno. Der Spiegel claims '60 years of quality journalism' but not everybody would agree.
One example:

The near future, that is... say in two years?
So over a period of 15 years electricity will have doubled in price. Have I ever. So will oil, food, cars, rent; maybe not precisely, but close.
If people on benefits can't pay the energy bills because they have risen quicker than the benefits, what would really be the problem then? Lets make energy cheaper, so those people just cannot pay for something else that also got more expensive?
Der Spiegel does signal a problem, and that's good.
But it does no good to meet their critical approach without any reservations.

I'm not going to read 45 pages of this thread, but I'll respond to the original post by saying that globals temps have actually increased slower in the past 10-15 years. That data contradicts the theory that we cannot reverse course (if human made global warming exists). If increased CO2 is the cause for global warming, why is the increase in temperature staring to slow, while global CO2 emissions continue to increase?
Can't it be completely possible that the warming we are experiencing is a natural part of the warming cycle, and has nothing to do with human CO2 emissions?
