This was NOT vaporware, there were videos of the air cars being driven in a city, not just on a test track like most experimental cars are shown...
So I believed them and have not checked up what followed...

Anyone can make a claim and a video. Your own verification is the first step towards "believing" the claim, and not before. But if you have experience and/or education in physics and the scientific method, one can more easily understand what is going to work and what will not.
There is a lot of scamming out there, and it's not just the oil companies.
