I have a 2004 Ram with 5.7 which is loaded down as a service truck. MPG mixed but mostly city driving 10.3 mpg. Front of the truck at hwy speed seemed to surg and lift. About 4 years ago as an old racer I found that the fog light delete vents were packing air up under the fender. Grabbed a sawzall an cut vents into the wheel well. MPG went to 11.0 with the surg and lift solved.
Have added directional vents at the wheel well to create an air curtain across the front wheel. Cut air intakes into the front bumper to relieve the high pressure which is vented into lower wheel well, 2 inch tube aimed down and out in front of the wheel.
installed a Extang Encore Tonneau Cover. fresh air intake, and an under belly pan back to the front sway bar. mpg ranges between 13.5 an 13.8, as a busness man all mods must be very subtle.
