I think you have mentioned about how vulnerable the metro xfi convertible is to rust based in part on how the engineers designed it or what have you.
For the average joe who would have a car like this size and would like to go about rust proofing the body of the car for the next 10+ years or more, I've thought about spraying on the floorboards, trunk sheet metal, rockerpanel, underneath, etc... in spray-on bed liner that is usually used on the bed of a pick up truck. Or something similar.
It would add some weight, but the idea is to preserve the body of a car against rust.
Could someone gut their interior and spray a resin on the sheet metal with something as strong or stronger than the bed-liner to insure that rust doesn't eat away at the unibody underneath the carpet or where ever ?
