Check the sides of the tyres, they'll most likely have the maximum pressure stated on them somewhere - usually in smaller letters.

I'm running 3 bar in an up, which is about the size and weight of your car.
BTW : VW recommend 2.2 bar for it

Depending on the condition of the suspension, you may need to back off a bit on the rear wheels if it becomes bouncy.

If the alignment was off by enough to cause uneven wear, it was likely off by enough to impact your fuel consumption.
