alternate test area possibility

The August 2012 CAR and DRIVER had an article about the 'Mojave Mile' at the Mojave Airport north of Edward's AFB,where Scaled Composites and others do their thing.
Each June, they offer a 1.5-mile course 'Mojave Magnum' on the 12,500-ft runway.
The entry fee is reasonable,as well as safety gear requirements.
On 'pavement' and with an extra 1/2-mile compared to Bonneville,I might have a shot at terminal velocity.Local station pressure would be available,as it IS and airport/spaceport.
I'd just take Hwy 385 south from my brother's in Carson City on a return loop via Salt Flats and Battle Mountain.
I haven't shut out the A2 and Darko tunnels, but I need to get to a comfort level regarding both of their test sections limited area.
