As for cars that make me abandon all logic about making the purchase, that would require me to have been using some in the first place. I would however pay good money for a clean, 5 speed '88-'91 Civic wagon, especially a grey one. In fact, dare I say it, I would pay retail for one -
Drive it til it died, then swap my VX drivetrain in it. I'd also pick up a Mercedes diesel wagon if I could find a nice one for a decent price. And the next Honda Beat that shows up at the auction might end up being mine, the JDM stuff has taken a dive here, a clean Nissan Figaro sold for like $5500 in November, so a Beat is going to be a lot less than that if one ever shows up. I've also always wanted a Del Sol DX, but finding a non-riced one of those is next to impossible in this neighborhood. As for newer eco cars, there is a repo CR-Z sitting in the storage yard waiting to be legal to sell. I don't know how resellable they are, but I'd try it out if it was cheap enough.
