I agreed with your
position, that the post was rude. But common language is looked down upon here, as others have mentioned- and I personally like that standard. Your position I agree with, but your message was executed in a way that took away from it.
I will also mention I agree with the point that your goals are not exactly in line with the common goal of this site. It's okay to be different, but one shouldn't expect a huge following for being outside of the goal. You did mention you just didn't want to LOSE mileage, you didn't care for a gain. It's no big deal, it's just that some experienced users may not want to get involved.
Personally, I think it's a huge waste. If it was a brand new car, or slightly used, in an area where it could last a while, and it was insured- sure, but personally, I wouldn't want to put so much money into it. But that's up to you, most people here will only invest in something for a pay off, even if it is slight (I have a $700 aluminum drive shaft in my Insight right now to save ~15 lbs lol).
I hope you stay involved with the pursuit for improved efficiency, but learn from this experience- it's okay to disagree, but the method can be worse than the issue at hand.
