This will also serve as a bit of re-introduction.

I joined this forum before with the intent of pulling whatever I could out of my old Grand Marquis and F150...but other plans and ideas prevented me from ecomodding them to any extent. Working over-the-road on freight trains allowed me to halve my amount of driving, and carpooling cut that down to about one-quarter of my original mileage. Seeing 25mpg in the Marquis and 18-20mpg in the truck did not both me.

Last May I bought my first house and my options for work now include daily driving from York, PA into Harrisburg; about 33 miles one way. The Marquis is tucked away for winter and the truck squeaks 16mpg with the snow ballast and winter gas. It was time to find something better for year-round commuting.

That brought me back here and I just so happened to find a car that fit the bill nicely, a 1997 Honda Civic HX; previously belonging to PAFirefighter11.

It's a little rough around the edges, but that's just fine for me.

I'm hoping come warmer weather to really get into the ecomodding and hypermiling more. Already running 200 miles with about 5/8th of a tank left, mostly highway driving from Flourtown to York; played with some EOC where I could. I'm really looking forward to this and hope to keep this around for a good while.
