I've heard it said so many times, but it's mind boggling that people think rich racing drivers start off rich. Just like many athletes, they start off in the middle-income bracket (sometimes lower... And this post reminds me of how much I miss FedEX CART. Now that was a US series with international reach, producing some great F1 transplants in the process.

It would be nice for the USA to become better integrated into the international open-wheel racing scene... but considering NASCAR is still a huge draw for drivers, audience and sponsors, I doubt that will come anytime soon.
