And surely your 5.0 makes more heat. One fringe benefit I really love is the extra protection to the radiator. If one looks at the image full size, it's very clear all the damage done to it by rocks and road debris- even bugs.
I'd love to see my radiator after 50,000 miles compared to an average Mustang after that time (distance). Sure cooling is reduced, but I would hazard a guess that grille blocked radiators will maintain a higher max performance level than same mileage vehicles without.
