I just laced my paper filter the other day with a new paper filter. I should have taken pictures of it before tossing it out. It was bad enough i was almost embarrassed. The old one was so clogged i had idle issues. Engine vacuum actually had deformed it so some air could get through. That clogged might cause some effect on mileage. I mean if you got to open the throttle To keep it running. Yes, the air filter you choose will not affect mileage much if any at all, but like anything else, should not be neglected.
