If your driving isn't "worst case", you're safe to partially block the grille if you do it progressively and monitor the results.

it's still hard to get away from "making power" mindset
(Cold Air Intake, Lower Temp Thermostat, Water Wetter, to get that cold dense oxygen rich air into the combustion chamber)
BTW,
just topped my truck off for the first time
kinda curious how she does on mostly highway
(drove her 60 miles yesterday, and will do another 150 today)
she's only a 7.3L
