I replaced the rush of horsepower feeling by upgrading the sound system & it isn't such a bad tradeoff. (More power in the trunk than under the hood now!!)The stereo actually makes me drive a bit smarter/slower, so I can squeeze 1 or 2 more songs in before I arrive at the destination.
And yes, it is amazing that modern cars can easily best most motorcycles in the MPG department. What I remember most for my cycling days in the 80's was how much difference having a passenger made. I would average about 53 riding solo & it would drop to 38-40 with a passenger.
