I had a vega wagon w/a v6, swapped the auto for a t5. It was neither fast nor did it get good mpg by my standards, nor was it fun to drive.
The world switched over to fuel injection long ago, and I would leave the tdi in the VW because it handles about 1,000,000 times better.
I would take a saturn/honda/toyota/??? 5 speed over a v6/v8 vega anyday, or over any vega/chevette.
