GM Announces Bi-Fuel CNG Versions of 2015 Chevrolet Silverado, GMC Sierra HD - Truck Trend

Quote:
With the bulk of the chassis and platform on the 2015 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra HD trucks carrying over from the previous model, it was a given that the bi-fuel CNG configuration offered on the 2014 model would be offered in the new trucks as well. General Motors makes the announcement official with the reveal of the 2015 Silverado and Sierra bi-fuel CNG models. The bi-fuel option will be offered on all cab configurations of the models with both 2WD and 4WD. The combined natural gas/CNG range on the trucks is estimated at 650 miles.

In addition to the bi-fuel trucks, GM is offering dedicated CNG versions of the GMC Savana and Chevrolet Express cargo and passenger vans. The vans are available in three- or four-tank configurations, and have an all-CNG range of 200-300 miles, depending on tank configuration. The trucks and vans have a specially upfitted 6.0-liter Vortec V-8 engine designed for CNG.

Pricing for the CNG models has not been announced, but the bi-fuel package was a $11,000 option on the 2014 model. Ford QVM Venchurs Vehicle Systems recently announced a significant $2550 price cut on its CNG package for the Ford Super Duty, bringing the option cost to $8350. The price cut was enabled by a new composite tank design from 3M.
