The "i" in Si stands for "injection"; all of the Si models had fuel injection.
The Civic proper didn't get an Si model until 1989. The CRX, to my knowledge, had the first Si model with the 1985 model year.
There was a Civic S around then or earlier, but it was carbureted like the other Civics of the era.
....uhm, of course, all of this information was only for US markets. Honda could and did provide different variations of their cars to other markets. So there could have been an earlier Civic Si, and so on. But the above is what I understand was available in the US.
