Some say that they bolt right up, and it seems true (pics are available online) but there are two problems: (1) the seventh gen has a cable shifter and the fift and sixth had a shift rod and (2) the seventh gen has an immobilizer for which you would need a workaround. Kinda ups the difficulty significantly. I have not seen anyone claim or show that the gears can be swapped. If the FD could be swapped between them, I guess the other issues with shifters and immobilizer would be moot.
