A local community paved a section of a bicycle trail with an asphalt/rubber blend for a short period of time. You noticed it immediately when you hit it. It was like peddling through molasses. That section has since been repaved with regular asphalt.

I read a few months ago that some playgrounds were removing the recycled rubber mulch due to toxic chemicals leaching from the rubber.
