The only mods I've done so far are the rear detached wing, full grill block, and the deletion of the a/c system. I think I'm about 6 bucks into the cost of mods. Thinking about a belly pan and maybe some rear skirts, that should put me up to about twenty bucks on the mods.
My 1998 Land Rover Disco AWD was getting right around 12 mpg, prompting the search for a more reasonable beater since it was costing me about 75 bucks a week in gas for that car alone. At this point I'm averaging a little over 40 mpg better than I was two years ago by driving the Festiva. I sold the LR for 1800 bucks, and the Festiva cost me a thousand, so I drove it free for the first year. I've been tracking the mileage on Fuelly for over 20,000 miles now, and I've documented every dime I put into it. It's been a life saver!
