Horsepower isn't really the concern, it's the torque and weight. The B20 puts out 130 ft/lbs while the D15B is barely hitting 100 ft/lb, and it peaks near 5300 RPM. The CR-V weights nearly 1000 lbs more than the Civic's the D15B was designed for. So the increased weight along with decreased torque equals something that is neither fun to drive or economical, even with lean burn.
