If running the ribs on a smooth pulley causes a problem, perhaps a grooved pulley could be mounted without too much difficulty.
Nice thing is, it appears the power steering system could be left completely intact if for some reason wolf wants it hooked up again.

I plan on buying a new car (gonna try to find a Toyota Echo with around 50k miles for like 8k or so) when I get the settlement from my car accident, so I will be hooking it back up again to either trade it in or privately sell it.
