Not specifically under a certain RPM that I remember... I'd let off on the downhills until it started flattening out again, maybe give it a bit more gas before an uphill would start. Watch how the 18-wheelers drive with their momentum, it's a great lesson.

I seem to remember someone telling me that the vehicle would "learn" the driving pattern and adjust accordingly. For instance, stomp on it around town, it learns to adapt to that, but if you drive like a grandpa would drive a regular Buick, it adapts to that. Not sure if there was truth to it, but it did seem plausible based on how the car reacted over time.
