cooler camshaft?
I got this idea thinking about reading up on cooler camshafts and riding my bike to work. Okay ive been working on bikes for a while and while riding I noticed that I never hit above 6000 rpms unless im going 60 (which is next to never with my city driving). so I was thinking since my bike has a rev limit of 8800rpms stock if I decrease the rev limit va cooler camshaft reduce the valve springs accordingly and maybe experiment with a slightly lighter rocker arms (since the valve springs pressure is decreased). I figured ill try to find a spare parts bike /engine to do this to and just swap in the engine. And yes my top speed will be decreased but who ever needs there bike to go over 70-80 mph ever. My only problems are: 1. Figuring out cam lobe reshape to get rpm I want. 2. Figuring out valve springs so at the new rpm the valves wont float. 3. Find the new pressure value of the valve springs that would work Iinplace of my old ones. 4. Find a shop that will modify/make me the camshaft I would need with the cooler lobes. Anyone have/know of any programs/shops that would do this?
