There is a myth that mass alone makes a vehicle safe. The design geometry and materials used are crucial to passenger protection. Trucks take longer to stop than a sedan. Most cars and light trucks weigh around 3500 lb. If you are truly worried about crash protection then wear a helmet and knee pads.
