Looking for a little help with OBDuino build.

I'm reading through the OBDuino thread so I know what I'm doing when I go to build mine but I just want to make sure that I'm understanding everything correctly since this is my 1st arduino build and I don't want to mess it up. Can someone check my parts list for me please?

My car:
2002 Pontiac Sunfire SE Sedan
2.2l Ecotec
4 Speed Auto
VPW (J1850) Protocol

Parts List :

- Arduino (I'll use the SainSmart Arduino Uno)
Link --> Amazon.com: SainSmart UNO R3 ATmega328P Development Board + USB Cable Compatible With Arduino UNO R3 Mega 2560 Nano Robot: Computers & Accessories <--

- LCD I'm still deciding on the size

- OBD-II Wire

- Resistors
Will these 2 work? --> 220 ohm 1/2W 5% Carbon Film Resistor pk/5 : Resistors | RadioShack.com <--
--> NTE QW151-10 - 1/4W 510 Ohm Metal Film Flameproof Resistor | RadioShack.com <--

- Transistor (I only need 1 right?)
PNP Amplifying Transistors (15-Pack) : PNP Transistors | RadioShack.com

- Buttons to switch screens
These are normally open
3A 125V SPST Normally Open Pushbutton Momentary Switch : Pushbutton Switches | RadioShack.com

I've never tried any arduino projects before but I have programming knowledge and I'd like to give it a try I just want to make sure I really do my research first. Thanks for any help.

Picture is of the type OBD-II connector in my car.
