Those low cost motors coming out of Japan you can thank the Japanese Government for them. There are rules about mileage and time on a car.
At 30K the car must go through a major inspection and emissions.
It is basically cheaper to install a new motor than pay to have the engine re-certified. At ten years the car has to go through a major inspection and in most cases it is cheaper to buy a new car. Any car over ten years of age is basically taxed out of existence. The reasons for these Government inspections is to force people to buy new cars thus creating jobs.
The old cars are shipped out to third world nations and resold.
It's the way the Japanese economy works.
