If I were in the market to buy a vehicle last year I would have bought a car...

BUT, I already owned my truck though 1 year of HS and 4 years of college. Over that time it has proven to be an exceptionally reliable and useful vehicle. The cost of selling my truck and buying another car in time and money while working full time, paying off student loans, saving for an engagement ring and now paying for a wedding just never penciled out. The truck also has some minor body damage which would impact the sale price enough that I don't know that I could get an equivalent vehicle without spending more.
