Do you engine off coast? I don't think it would affect your O2 sensor either way.

Is your failing O2 sensor pre or post-catalytic converter? If it's the forward (pre-catalytic converter, then it can affect fuel economy. The second O2 sensor just measures catalytic efficiency, and isn't used to adjust air/fuel ratio.
