To run the VX you'll need a obd2 to obd1 adapter. They don't all work right since most are made to run the p28 which lacks a few pin outs that vx's have.

Scan gauge is going to need the obd2.

I would start out with the hx ecu, and get it running perfectly first. Then worry about swapping to the vx. Otherwise it'll be hard to troubleshoot, and you might lose interest/ patience.
