I can still recall a sketch I saw in one of the 'little' hot rod mags when I was in High school. It was a black-with-flames chopped '34 Ford 3-window coupe. What made it different, and unforgettable, was that it had baloney-cut megaphone lakes pipes that pointed over the top of the rear tires. And the doors had been gull-winged. The bottoms of the doors were cut off at an angle to clear the up-swept sidepipes. It was seriously cool.
So I found a build thread on thesamba.com for a Fad T with a mid-engine flat four, that was originally built in the '70s and is currently being restored.

Stretch the wheelbase and change out the
faux header and you'd be on the way to a car that looks like ZZ Top's '34 but that can stand up on it's air bags and run up the side of a hill.
