I've driven roads out west coming back from California, don't remember the specific route. We drove from LA straight through to Memphis TN. The road I remember was 85 MPH and you could see the headlights coming from 40 miles away. Both us and oncoming traffic was going downhill for miles. I think I watched the same headlights for 15 minutes with closing speeds in excess of 150 MPH.
That type of driving situation doesn't exist in Va. The speed limit was 85MPH. At 150 combined you are talking about a football field in a little over a second and when there is a wreck their is not much left of people or vehicles, especially if they hit something solid.
