Same kind of intervals on my Civic. The light usually comes on after 6000-6500 miles. Double the intervals of our old car, the Oldsmobile with the 3.3L V-6. Good for you!
BTW: What tires did you put on? Low rolling resistance tires, replacements or something fancier? We've replaced our tires after about 25000 miles. (They were down to 4-5/32nds and getting annoyingly loud. Goodyear RS-A's - not recommended...)
