in other news, my rpms at 60mph (assuming 5th gear, and level road) is roughly 1900 to 2000, its difficult to say exactly, i dont watch the tach for too long. at 65mph (same assumptions) roughly 2200. at 75mph (same assumptions) roughly 2500 rpm. of course these vary depending on grade and who i'm following (i love semi's) i plan on filling up the tank today to see how i'm doing with all the trix you guys have told me.
Sorry, don't remember where I saw the manual - it was about a year ago that I searched for it. Will post the link when I find it.

So, I brought the civic in for an oil change today, I tend to just follow the "idiot light" when it says it wants an oil change I bring it to the dealership for one. This was the 5th oil change on the car at about 29500 miles, the last oil change was at 22895 the new civics are supposed to sense the viscosity of the oil to tell you when to get it changed. This was by far the longest between oil changes at 6600 miles and the dealership made no mention of it being late or overdue.

So, it seems eco-driving will also reduce the number of oil changes you need by not wearing out the oil as fast.

Also, I put new tires on at 22895, put them at 44psi around 25k miles, I asked the service guy to rotate the tires and when he gave me the bill, no tire rotation charge, I asked what the deal was and he said they don't rotate the tires unless there is 2/32 of wear, so, in 6600 miles I have not used 2/32 of tire while keeping them at max sidewall for most of the miles. It seems so far my car requires a reasonable amount less maintenance with some eco-driving vs. normal driving.

Same kind of intervals on my Civic. The light usually comes on after 6000-6500 miles. Double the intervals of our old car, the Oldsmobile with the 3.3L V-6. Good for you!

BTW: What tires did you put on? Low rolling resistance tires, replacements or something fancier? We've replaced our tires after about 25000 miles. (They were down to 4-5/32nds and getting annoyingly loud. Goodyear RS-A's - not recommended...)

I wasn't really eco-modding when I replaced them but I wanted a tire I wasn't going to be replacing in a year so I got Yoko Avid TRZ, I have them running 44psi and they handle really well, traction doesn't appear to be compromised the car can't corner quite as fast as with stock wheels but still does a good job. I have tested breaking hard on dry and wet roads and both have been very quick and reassuring. I would definitely recommend the yoko's to other people replacing the TERRIBLE stock civic tires.

Ps. they are 80k mile tires.

When I got my car inspected in May they did a "Warranty replacement" of the upper control arm kit and a rear allignment on the car at the same time I purchased the new tires. I would say this is a valid claim, I was very consistent about having my tires rotated every oil change just to find out the treat was unsafe at 18k miles. I would say the combination of an extremely soft compound stock tire with the rear camber issue was a driving factor in the speedy tire wear on my '07 civic.

Also, these tires were the root cause of a weather related accident this past winter with my civic. I have been driving 6 years with various cars, tires, tire wear and much more extreme weather conditions and never had a problem like I did this past winter with the civic + stock tires.

Ok, so I finally got a few minutes to go work on the car and........ the mounting hardware a bought for my skirts has gone missing, so I am delayed yet again, I did start forming and drilling my lower supports and tomorrow I am picking up new mounting bolts, I will be doing a pressure fit on the top and bolt on bracket at the bottom so as not to be too intrusive on the paint. Most people say it doesn't matter cause they have a beater but alas I am trying to keep my car in decent condition. I will post pics wed. when I should get another chance to work and maybe make more progress.

I will be using aluminum stock 1/8" thick by 3/4" wide for the bottom brace and 3/16" ABS plastic for the skirt itself. I will be buying some paint to match the color as close as I can.

spyderbite9001, I finally found a couple of links to the service manuals for the 06-08 Civics:

Honda Civic Accessories - Maintenance Items

Not sure about the validity of the websites - beware - but they are out there somewhere... Christmas is only a few months away right? *scribbling on wish list*

thanks superchow,
i actually looked in my owners manual, and they gave the exact publisher of the manuals. its
helminc.com
i already ordered them and they should be in this week. i'm really looking forward to having them, they've been a real life/money saver in the past with other cars.

on another note, does anyone know the torque setting for the lugnutz? the wheel lugs i mean. its not in the owners manual.

btw, i'm totally stoked, gas prices have gone down 20cents in the past 2 weeks, i filled up for 3.77 the other day, and i saw it for 3.69 on my way to work this morning. and just as reference, the first time i filled up my civic, gas was 2.79 a gallon (back in feb)
