It should be stated with good reason and understanding a car manual that suggests 91+ does not require 91+.

Most cars that require premium (91+ octane) do so for a reason, such as mentioned higher compression. The higher compression can not be sworted with this mod because there are added components like super or turbo chargers. Cars that suggest 91+ octane do not require 91+ so 87 octane can be used.

With a little web search I see that the smart for two suggests it's required for longevity and an increase of 3mpg. Prove it before creating potential engine damage, also as suggested try a more common mod like a spacer first.
