though I do not have the same car as you, I also bought my very first new car with only 6 miles on the odometer. After about the 1000 miles, I did not notice a dramatic increase in fuel efficiency. Overtime efficiency just slowly crept up and up. However since I have been with ecommoder for a long time, I was already using advanced driving techniques, therefore I was able to exceed EPA rating by the 1000 mile mark, so really, I was cheating.

therefore, a big part of achieving good fuel gains is with proper driving technique. I suggest you study up on the 100 + hypermiling driving tips on the top of the forum page.

you will see this phrase a lot on this forum, "fix the nut behind the wheel."
