The confusion over the weight arises from Renault's own press kit (I went to their website and downloaded it just now). In the introduction, they mistakenly write, "A weight saving programme brought the car's mass down to just 400kg." But later on, in the subsection on weight, they write, "Eolab tips the scales at 955kg" and claim that weight several times, as well as a weight savings of 400kg from some unknown number. On Renault's blog, they claim, "EOLAB weighs around 400kg less than an ordinary B-segment vehicle." It's worth noting that the weight of the Eolab (2101lbs, for us standard folk) is slightly less than a base European Clio (980kg/2156lbs).
