It isn't just the body shape and the super-tall sixth gear, but also the direct injection in the engine. It produces a lot of torque through high-compression at low RPMs so it can just tick over at highway speeds. The 2.4l Direct Injection Hyundai engine has one of the highest compression ratios I've ever seen in a normally aspirated engine.
