VW's lightweight & super efficient XL1 has been tuned and paired with Italian motorcycle maker Ducati. They replaced the turbo-diesel and electric motors; output has jumped to 197 hp with the addition of a Ducatti 1199 Superleggera V-twin, mated to a seven speed dual clutch transmission. The thicker tires and wider rear fenders of the XL Sport has made it less aero with a 0.258 coefficient of drag compared to XL 1's 0.189. In addition to screaming its way to 11,000 rpm, the two-cylinder engine will help the XL Sport zip to 62 miles per hour in 5.8 seconds before reaching a top speed of 168 miles per hour, but is it really better?
