The speed controller for many evs include regen braking. The problem is you cant have and eat your cake. You never break even. Second lead acid battery do not charge instantly, but its just a surface charge and quickly dissipates. In many cases you are causing more harm than good and just evaporating the electrolyte from the rapid dumping of power into the cells if its lead acid.
You can use a generator, but those arent as efficient as a cars engine hooked to a gen set.
