Finally decided to register and contribute to this great forum.

Up until about a year ago I had a 03 Golf TDI with the taller 5th gear added. I forget the exact ratio but I consistently got 45 mpg in that car.

I kind of regret letting it go. I had the itch for a powerful car so I bought a Legacy gt, modified it a bunch and the best I could get was 20mpg in that.

Fast forward a year and I have sold the Subaru and picked up an econobox 98 Civic LX 5 speed.

I have averaged 38mpg over 3 tanks. I was quite impressed and this is what got my mpg quest fired up again.

I am on the hunt for a VX transmission as well as a HX engine swap.

I have just installed a Y8 intake manifold on my bone stock Y7 and converted it to OBD1 + demon2 chip.

I will be installing a wideband and leaning out cruise fueling to see what happens.

I track my tanks on fuelly and always go by miles traveled / gallons to fill tank.

Oh yeah. My wife drives a 2013 Chevrolet Cruze ECO 6MT. She does 95% city driving and averages 33mpg. Not bad IMO.

Within a month of buying the car I replaced the fuel pump module with a regular one so the tank would take more than 13 gallons as limited by the eco style fuel pump module.

Anyways, long intro but hello!
