I'm more of a Scotch drinker, but I dabble in rum. Kraken isn't very smooth, but then I was ruined by cheap Flor de Caņa while in Nicaragua. It's drinkable straight out of the bottle. If mixing with Coke, then I'd just get whatever is on the bottom shelf in the half-gallon size.
My Scotch pick; 10 year Laphroaig single malt Islay, served neat at room temperature.
Other single malts on my shelf include Glenfiddich 12 year and glenlivet 12 year. Johnny Walker Red also has a place on my shelf.
One of my mixed drink creations is called a Hot Buttered Slippery Whippie Nippy. It consists of hot buttered rum, slippery nipple and whipped vodka mixed together and served hot after spending a day snowshoeing or skiing.
Mostly I'll just have a local IPA or Stout when I eat out during the weekend.
